. . . of this holiday home in Provence. One material, oak, comes to embody this energy in an upward motion playing with volumes and light while moving through the space. Drawing on the hard and noble flatness of the parquet floor, the oak draws itself up to build a half wall containing the kitchen cabinets, and then, after covering the entryway towards other parts of the house, returns to shape the fireplace. The staircase forms the centre point of this gigantic folding, with its 100 plates of 3-ply oak raised up to just 4 cm below the ceiling – barely a breath passes through.
